Spring 1995
Harris is the author of "In Defense of Having a Penis," a controversial editorial that appeared in the April '94 issue of Prism accompanied by a photo of a nude male. In it, Harris described in no uncertain terms his frustration with feminists, whom he felt were limiting his opportunities for sexual gratification.
Many readers did not find it funny. In the ensuing war or words, Harris took it upon himself to mail a strongly worded letter to women's studies teachers who had criticized him, and they called for him to be disciplined. Though Harris was never punished, he says the fallout has caused his academic performance to suffer and damaged his professional reputation.
Harris will be representing himself in his lawsuit, which claims school employees defamed him, violated his civil rights, and created a sexually harrassing environment.
