EastWind Books

EastWind Books at 1435 Stockton Street in the heart of San Francisco's bustling Chinatown has been at the forefront of promoting the Asian cultures to a generation of readers and keeping images alive for immigrants for sixteen years.

Fully stocked with thousands and thousands of fiction and non-fiction titles both in native languages and English translations, EastWind offers a diverse catologue of books from China, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Thailand and the Philippines, with topics ranging from politics to gay fiction.

Craig Yee, the studiously charming and articulate co-manager of EastWind says within the last few years there has been an intense interest in Asian books and the culture in general due to the iconography that has emerged in American entertainment. He says people want books on Hong Kong cinema, Vietnamese perspectives on the war, as well as writings on class and tradition conflicts that Asian immigrants face. "We are the portal to Asia's cultural production" Yee says proudly.

Finding a lucrative niche all of their own, EastWind are widening their visibility to a global level with the creation of "superstore" web site where they will sell software, books, videos, music and clothing. Contact them on the World Wide Web at URL: http://www.EastWindSF.com
