Eat your veggies

People do not go to the Acorn Restaurant because it is healthy, they go for the wonderfully crafted food. This charming, eclectic restaurant with a semi-open kitchen greets and tantalizes patrons with culinary works of art on over-sized plates.

Personable servers are helpful when deciding between the coriander-crusted halibut with buckwheat soba noodles atop fresh greens sprinkled with a wasabi and miso vinaigrette, or the grilled salmon with orzo and a tapanade of anchovies, capers, olives and parsley, mixed with pasta and celery root marmalade in a Dijon mustard sauce.

Dishes are grilled or oven-roasted, prepared with canola or olive oil and lots of organic vegetables. The changing menu includes vegetarian appetizers and entrŽes. Prices range from $5-$9.50 for appetizers, $13.50 to $18.50 for entrŽes, and $4 to $6 for dessert.

Acorn Restaurant is located at 1256 Folsom St. near Ninth Street in San Francisco. Lunch is served Tuesday through Sunday, and dinner Tuesday through Saturday. For reservations call (415) 863-2469.
