Buckner-Nkrumah tells his side of the story

by Troy Buckner-Nkrumah/guest columnist

It is very unfortunate that I have to write this column to the students of SF State, defending the legitimacy of my administration that was to begin carrying out its political responsibilities, May 1, 1995.

It is also unfortunate that I am forced to do so by pointing out several facts that the Golden Gater staff and a few opinion writers have failed to recognize. The malicious slandering against myself and my administration may simply be due to ignorance or misunderstanding of several recent and past school issues.

On the other hand, it may be that the lies, half truths, and complete manipulation of words was done as a malicious strategy to misdirect the students of SF State.

I personally believe that both of these explanations are legitimate.

The recent articles in the Golden Gater have been biased, slanted and very slanderous. The reputation of this unethical publication is so tarnished due to its lack of an official code of ethics! This is proven by the fact that several professors, administrators and an increasing number of students are refusing to even speak to Golden Gater reporters for fear of being misquoted or having their comments taken out of context.

The Golden Gater is not totally responsible. There are other student organizations who have played a key role in deceiving SF State students. The Zionists and the supporters of the Student Struggle slate are two prime culprits. The title "Student Struggle" is an ironic name for students who dress in expensive clothes every day to attend school; these students did nothing to "struggle" for student rights in the areas of fee hikes, affirmative action, remedial class cuts or even the elimination of the football program. What is their struggle?

All of these groups are attempting to mislead the campus community in order to further their cause or struggle to control student government.

I am making these charges based on several facts:

1) The Golden Gater.

The Golden Gater is in fear of losing its funding because of their lack of adopting an official code of ethics.

2) The Zionists.

The Zionists, who still to this day, harp on the issue of the Malcolm X mural and vow to get vengeance by conspiring to destroy the reputation of all the students who supported the mural. We are clear on this issue. We know that it is no coincidence that many of the people on the front line of that particular incident are still feeling the repercussions for their position. Files missing, loss of financial aid records, and Jason "Quddus" Archie, who was sent to San Quentin for six months for no apparent reason are poignant examples.

That controversial issue had many components that the majority of the students didn't know about. For example, a few months before this incident, SF State President -- or shall I say "dick-tator" -- Robert A. Corrigan was sent to the illegal state of Israel with all expenses paid by the Zionist community. After Corrigan had the Malcolm X mural destroyed, he received a check for $250,000 to implement a Jewish studies program.

Now, of course I'm not opposed to the study of Judaism, but if it is to be studied, then it should be done so in a school of religious studies along with the study of Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, etc. No one religion is any more important then another, no matter who may have suffered or is suffering the most.

Students need to know how much control the Zionists have in this society. They have one of the strongest lobby groups in Washington D.C. looking out for Israel's interests in Congress. They have tremendous power and influence in the news and media. We saw this firsthand during the mural incident as well as the Anti Defamation League spy conspiracy on SF State in 1992 and 1993, and we see it today with the attack on my comrades as well as my own character.

The Zionists are also attempting to control black leadership throughout the country by telling black leaders what to do and who they can associate with. They know that they will never be able to control me, so it is just easier to discredit my standing and isolate me from my community. An example of this can be seen with their positions on Minister Louis Farrakhan, Leonard Jefferies, Ben Chavis and other leaders who they cannot control and who they persistently attack. Now they are attempting to control campuses around the country by co-opting the administration as well as the student leadership. For this they use all the methods that I cited above. They are very intelligent and strategic. They are aware that if they control the young leaders today, then they will then control the future leaders of tomorrow.

3) The Student Struggle slate

These students have lied, cheated, and now are attempting to sue the students', "dick-tator" Corrigan, and the California State University Board of Trustees. Then they have the audacity to say that we use "any means necessary" to remain in power. They also charge us with discrimination and being homophobic and anti-Semitic, for which they give no evidence to prove or back up their accusations. This is because their arguments have no foundation and are just shields to hide behind in order to mislead the public from focusing in on the truth -- they cheated.

Unlike them, I will prove my accusations.

The first incident involves an unapproved forum held in the residence halls. Struggle took it upon themselves to sanction a "Student Struggle Social", where they passed out flyers and discussed their political agenda for the purpose of obtaining votes. I saw the banner for the event in the window of the Cantina where it was held. This program like all other forms of creative campaigning methods must first be approved by the AS Elections Committee, whose responsibility it is to carry out a fair and honest election. This rule cannot be argued against by the Struggle slate, a week earlier they signed a contract swearing to abide by the rules as set forth in the elections codes. Nor can they argue ignorance because Struggle's vice presidential candidate, Augustine Navarez, was formerly the AS Chair of the Elections Committee.

Although they were disqualified for this violation, there were many others that could have eliminated their slate, including the fact that they used the e-mail system to campaign, which is a violation of FCC regulations, California State Regulations, California State University rules, SF State computing regulations and a violation of AS election codes.

Struggle would and will do anything to gain control. They have aligned with an evil power -- the Zionists -- who want to use them to influence the politics on the most progressive campus in California, and possibly in the country. These strong lobbyists apparently got to the judge and influenced him to place an injunction on the decision of the students by placing an illegitimate group into office.

If Struggle really believes that the Zionists are on their side, they should ask them and their attorney from the American Jewish Congress, a very powerful Zionist organization, what is his personal or their organizational position on social issues such as affirmative action. Struggle might be surprised to find out that these racists have the same position as the neo-Nazi Klan leaders. The American Jewish Congress doesn't want your kind on campus.

Struggle, under the direction of the Zionists, has accused the Progressive Coalition in general and specifically the Unified Student Movement of doing "anything to stay in power."

To some extent this is true. Yes, we would much rather fight for the power of AS, then to allow it to fall into the hands of a corrupt, illegitimate, spineless group of Uncle Toms. Student leaders must have the courage to stand up and confront the administration, the Board of Trustees and the state Legislature and not just for their own personal interests, but for the interests of the students they represent.

Student government must remain in the hands of the students and not fall to the puppets of the administration, faculty and staff or even the Zionist pigs who would love to control the most political school in the country.

It should be pointed out that Corrigan hasn't sworn in any AS administration as of May 2, 1995, when he swore in Kenyan "Uncle Tom" McCarthy. Previously he has been too cowardice. This shows that Corrigan feels at ease and comfortable with this group of students, which is dangerous. Who will keep him in check now?

Definitely not his new friends.

USM, as a slate, ran a principled and just campaign with no violations of the rules and only two complaints. Both were filed against me and were identical with the same signatures but filed separately.

I'd like to clarify this incident, which must be done since the Zionist spin doctors and their collaborators misrepresented my comments.

They accused me of making threats against Struggle candidates. I am very anti-Zionist. There are many reasons why I do not believe that the illegal state of Israel has a right to exist. I do believe that the only good Zionist is a dead Zionist, as I believe the only good Nazi is a dead Nazi, or the only good racist is a dead racist.

If that scares anyone, then don't become or continue to be a Zionist/Nazi/racist -- which if compared, all have very similar practices.

At this time in the struggle the Zionist is a prime enemy of the black struggle for liberation. They co-opt our leaders and mislead our people, degrade our people -- especially our women -- through their influence and participation in the record, television and film industries. Not to mention the destruction the Zionists have caused throughout Africa, by arming and sustaining oppressive and illegal regimes in hopes to control the gold and diamond reserves, as was done in the apartheid state of South Africa since 1948.

Yes. The only good Zionist is a dead Zionist. This doesn't mean that I go out and shoot Zionists. It means that I support Palestinian groups like Hamas who have not sold out their land and continue to put bullets in settlers.

To paraphrase Malcolm X, you cannot negotiate your land back, you have to get it back the same way it was taken, by force.

The only real threat is not to Struggle, but to the Zionists who see me as an uncompromising schvartze (nigger), who can't be bought or co-opted like my opponents on the Struggle slate, or like the administration at SF State.

No. I'm not like those Uncle Toms in the black community posing as leaders. I am a freedom fighter with no intentions of giving in or compromising.

As for the ignorant who mistakenly think that when we speak of Zionists we are speaking of Jews, all I can say is please stay in school until you learn the difference. There is enough ignorance on the street already, yours is not needed. Last year, we tried to teach the university the difference between Zionism and Judaism.

Apparently we have a lot more to teach.

If nothing else, let's get one thing straight: not all Jews are Zionist, just as not all Africans are in the Nation of Islam. We are anti-Zionist not anti-Semitic.

I hope that I have cleared up some of the misunderstandings that the Golden Gater, Struggle and the Zionists have been perpetuating. I also hope that the student community comes together to defend its rights and to not allow such a sell out group of students to control our destiny.

I urge the student community to struggle for all of our rights, fight oppression, question authority. Don't sell out. Don't believe all you read in the unethical biased Golden Gater, especially if it is written by Linda "brown-nosing" Burbank, who sided with Struggle on every article she so slantedly wrote.

If anyone would like to get involved in the struggle for student rights, feel free to contact me at the Pan Afrikan Student Union at Room B135 in the student center or ext. 1933.

Forward in Struggle
