Herman Franck and Steve Gargaro, attorneys with the law firm Franck & Franck have not taken on Archie's case for free.
The total legal fees for the petition process will be $5,000, excluding appeals, if any, Franck said.
According to Franck, Archie has already paid $1,000 to the firm, but $4,000 still needs to be raised.
In order to raise the difference, Franck said he and Associated Students President Troy Buckner-Nkrumah will be arranging a fund-raiser to be held at the Cesar Chavez Student Center during the second week of May. Buckner-Nkrumah was unavailable for comment at press time.
Franck plans to have a live band and said that he will be there in person to speak about Archie's case.
"We are absolutely committed to this case," said Franck. "If we don't get the full amount, we'll live. The main thing is to get Archie out of jail."
