March 9, 1995
This letter is a response to the letter by Cristina Lopez (Gater, March 2).
I think she was right to criticize the Golden Gater for the lack of precision in the Feb. 22 story, but this in no way justifies the inaccurate ramblings that dominated her letter.
I fail to see how the Gater discredited Archie by reporting aspects of his past that were public record and directly responsible for his removal from this campus and his subsequent incarceration. I also fail to see how his privacy was violated -- he is on parole for a capitol crime.
Did Cristina protest the actions taken by the UPD and the Gater in publishing the identity and picture of an accused rapist last fall? I don't seem to recall her saying anything. It is truly sad to see how deluded she is when she attacks the supposed "racist animosity" and "colonizer's mentality" on this campus. Archie was not arrested for fighting against oppression and racism, he was arrested for violating his parole. How about the rights of the man he murdered in Sacramento? Cristina, you need to wake up and smell what you're shoveling. If anyone is fighting for a personal agenda, it is you.
