Volleyball team slams Notre Dame

Golden Gater OnlineThe Gators opened NCAC play last week with a loss to Humboldt, 3-0 (15-11, 15-13, 15-1), but rebounded against College of Notre Dame Friday, winning 3-0 (15-10, 15-6, 15-10) with outstanding performances by Kelly Gallagher (12 kills, 9 digs) and Diane Martin (6 kills, 11 digs).

Gallagher is in the top 10 in kills in the NCAC, totaling 138. Martin is second in digs on the team with 168, behind team leader Dana Steigerwald, who is also first in the NCAC with 206.

The win over College of Notre Dame brought the Gators to 7-12 overall, 0-1 in NCAC play. The team only had seven wins for the entire season last year, and there are still 14 matches remaining this season.

SF State played at Cal State Hayward Tuesday, losing 3-0 (15-13, 15-7, 15-8), and will play at Cal State Stanislaus tonight. The next home game is Tuesday, Oct. 3 against Holy Names. The next home NCAC event will be against Chico State on Friday, Oct. 6.
