A man was arrested in the Cesar Chavez Student Center Monday after the University Police Department responded to a call and discovered he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.

28-year-old Stephen Baker had been arguing with his wife in front of the Cesar Chavez Student Center around 3 p.m., police said.

Officers responding to the argument discovered the couple, who are not SF State students, standing in front of the Book Store 'n' More return window inside the student center.

"The officers then asked for the couples' identification," said Lt. Stephen Mclain of the UPD. "But Baker did not have any identification on him."

After getting the names of the couple the police ran a computer check on them and discovered Baker had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. He was wanted by the Oakland Police Department for skipping out on $7,500 bail from a prior drug violation.

He was arrested without incident and taken to San Francisco County Jail. Police did not know why the couple was on campus.
