All right, it has finally come out in the open: the dining center is not perfect. The article in the Oct. 26 issue completely misconstrued the facts of eating at the dining center. It implied that debris is found everyday in the food and mice are running rampant in the establishment. I would like to clear up some things on behalf of City Eats:
First: Annette Pettit, the residential dining facility director, is very flexible when it concerns things that are a problem to the customers of City Eats. She is trying her best to change the problems that exist or have existed over the years. She can't do anything if the situation is not brought to her attention. Also, if you had been here over the years you would know that there have been substantial changes since Annette was brought here.
Second: For those of you that live in the residence halls, there are avenues that you can take to change what you don't like. Go to the food committee meetings (the times can be changed for what it most convenient for you) and say something there, instead of spreading slander through the press.
Third: It is part of your housing contract to pay into a meal plan to eat at the dining center, but you could have come and looked at what the dining center had to offer before you signed your contract.
Fourth,: Other schools have this system. It is not like we are the only school who has its residents pay into a meal plan.
Now, I am not saying that finding debris in your food or seeing mice is acceptable, but these incidents have been brought to Annette's attention and the problems have been solved. Next time, if you are going to complain, at least go to the source first, instead of allowing slander to be spread by the press without any kind of objective point of view.
