Dear Editor:

In an article on page one of the Gater (10/26/95), Randall Robinson -- a guest speaker on Oct. 25 at the conference at SF State commemorating the 50th anniversary of the United Nations -- was described as "statuesque, with a look of courage and strength on his face."

On page five, another speaker at the conference, Bella Abzug, was described as wearing a "vibrant purple skirt and jacket with matching hat."

You forgot to mention that more than 200 people attended the luncheon to hear Ms. Abzug, a tremendous tribute to the woman whose ideas have been fundamental to social change and progress for the last 25 years.

In the Gater, men get first page coverage and are treated as statesmen; women are in the back pages, treated as fashion plates. Will discrimination against women never end?
