The Thanksgiving Calendar

This Thanksgiving, why not volunteer and help those who are down on their luck? Here is a list of some of the places where your help would be appreciated this holiday.

You can't go home for Thanksgiving and the thought of turkey with stuffing makes you sick. What can you do? Well, not much. Let's be honest -- everything is closed and most people are either glued to the TV watching football or slaving in the kitchen. But here are a couple of suggestions from the Calendar Man.

At the Paradise Lounge (Located at the corner of 11th and Folsom) it's an evening of Thanksgiving karaoke with Anna. For more info, call (415)861-6906.

Low on cash? Why not make your way to Colma and catch a flick at the Serramonte 6, where ticket prices for all movies are only $1.75. It's cheaper than renting a movie, and you can get that authentic sticky movie theater floor and outrageous popcorn prices. For a list of movies and times call (415)756-6500.

Take a walk. You live in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Take your fast pass, get on a bus and explore. Take a hike to the top of Mt. Davidson, SF's highest peak at 900 feet, and bring a turkey sandwich. Cable cars are not just for tourists. Remember, there is no charge to ride on the St. Francis Hotel's glass elevators.

Calendar Man's CD pick of the week: Lisa Loeb and Nine Stories - "Tails". I don't know why, but I can't stop listening to this CD. It's addictive (plus she's just so darn cute.)

Concert alert: Tonight at the DNA Lounge -- Flower SF with Nero's Rome. Tickets are only five bucks.
