Letter to the editor

This letter is addressed to the whole campus community.

On Nov. 21, the Gater ran a guest column, "Know Your Enemy," and named me as its author. Indeed, I wrote most of what appeared. However, my title read: "Defending Affirmative Action."

Despite the persona "guaranty" of the Gater staff that "nothing would be changed without my consent," this inflammatory title and other lesser changes were made to my piece. Because I believe that we should be building bridges in the campus community and not inciting more anger, I ask you to accept my apology for not "knowing better."

I was warned. My policy is now the same as many of my colleagues': I do not speak to the Golden Gater.
