Letter to the editor

I'm sorry, but I just have to bring this up. Smokers are one of the most disgusting and inconsiderate groups of people on the planet. For some reason, they feel that since they are a smoker, it is fine and dandy for them to throw their litter on the ground. If a police officer saw a citizen throw a piece of litter on the ground, a ticket would be written up almost immediately -- however, cigarette butts are fine.
Most students have witnessed the vast number of these repulsive "butts" outside of most campus buildings. Smokers! Put it out, pick it up and throw it away! Also, smokers need to be a tad more attentive to the people around them. Too many times, I find myself holding my breath to avoid massive inhalation of their nasty toxic fumes as I enter a building. Can't they hang out in less traveled areas? I know there is a policy of 15 feet away from buildings, but I have yet to see that enforced. Smokers need to do their "thing" in places where they can die by themselves, and not draw 100 percent of the people who walk by with them. Smokers! Be conscious of where you are and who is around you when you exhale!
