AS presents free live music.
WALKINTHBIGDOG -- a funky vocal-oriented pop sound with wisps of gospel inspirations -- will perform at Malcom X Plaza on Sept. 5, from 12 to 2 p.m.

Civil Rite will be performing Wednesday September 6 at Jack Adams Hall.

AS presents free screening of Panther
"Panther," the recent controversial film from the father/son Van Peeples duo, will be shown at Jack Adams Hall September 7 and 8. Show times on both days are 4 and 6 p.m.

SF State student films to be highlighted in "Out of State".
"Out of State," films by students in the San Francisco State University undergraduate Cinema dept., will be shown at the Artist Television Access Theater, located at 992 Valencia St., Sept. 8 at 8:30 p.m. Tickets cost $5.

Department of Creative Arts Morrison Artist Series.
The Alexander String Quartet will perform Sept. 10 at McKenna Theater. The performance starts at 3 p.m. and admission is free.

Jane Marsh and William Corbett-Jones will be featured at the Faculty Voice and Piano Recital on Sept. 17 at 3 p.m. in Knuth Hall. Tickets are $5.

Soprano Karol Bennett will sing to the piano accompaniment of John McDonald, Sept. 29 at 8 p.m. in Knuth hall. Tickets are $5.

Cesar Chavez Student Center celebrates its 20th Anniversary.
The Cesar Chavez Student Center will celebrate its 20th Anniversary, Sept. 13, with a number of special events and live music.

Scheduled times and events are as follows:

Live music by Caribeando, a Latin-Caribbean quartet, will perform at Jack Adams Hall at noon and 1:30 p.m.

The bell-bottoms will flare at the 70s Fashion Show at Jack Adams Hall starting at 12:50 p.m.

A cake cutting ceremony will offer free slices of cake for all at 1:20 p.m.

Randolf Argulles will play piano jazz at the art gallery lobby, from 4 to 6 p.m.

Jazz duo Barry Nelson and Sean Carson will perform at the Depot from 6 to 7 p.m.

The bookstore will offer a 20 percent discount sale Sept. 13 in commemoration of the anniversary.

The student center art gallery will display an exhibition that examines the social, cultural and political history of the Cesar Chavez student center with videos, photographs, models and archival materials documenting noteworthy events.

Hypothesis 1995 to open at the Student Center Art Gallery.
The artwork of Joe Mangrum -- a focus on the relationship between visual art and its natural surroundings -- will be on exhibit from Sept. 13 to Oct. 4 at the Student Center Art Gallery.

"The Israel Caravan"
The Israeli Caravan, an Israeli culture fair, will be held Sept. 21 at Malcom X Plaza from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Asian art coming to SF State.
"Through New Eyes," the art of more than 75 Asian-American artists will be on display at the SF State Art Gallery, located on the second floor of the Arts and Industry Building, from Sept. 24 through Oct. 26.

The exhibit is a collaboration of paintings, prints, photographs, family portraits and ceramic pieces dating from more than 100 years of Asian American art. For more information call the SF State Art Department Gallery at 338-6535.
