Got Zits On Your Lips?
Popping the truth about vaginal acne

Q:Dear Divine:
This morning while taking a shower, I found a small painful bump on my vagina. It is not a wart and not herpes because the bump is not an open sore on the skin. It feels much deeper. Is it possible to get acne in your private parts? How can I get rid of it before my man thinks I have some sick growth? And finally, How do I prevent this from happening again?
Thanks,
Jane

A:Dear Jane,
First, anytime you find a bump or anything else irregular anywhere on your body, it should be checked out by a doctor. You can't rule out STD's like herpes and warts just because it's not a huge, gaping hole. Having said that, it sounds to me like you have either a severely ingrown pubic hair - usually caused by shaving - or a pimple on your vagina. If it is an ingrown hair, don't touch it too much because it'll just get worse. Just keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't get infected, and it should eventually pop out and heal itself. But really, go see a gynecologist just to be sure it's not something more serious.
