She has taught journalism at SF State several recent semesters, and became Assistant Professor in September 2001. She has taught Newswriting, Publication Lab, History of Journalism, and created the Civic Journalism course.

Ms. Wagner, as a former San Francisco Chronicle and Hearst-owned San Francisco Examiner staff writer, specialized in coverage of the Bay Area's African American community--housing, health, economic development, culture, lifestyle; and covered a wide range of educational issues.

Ms. Wagner freelances for publications including: Parade, Mother Jones, Performing Arts; and earlier covered a wide array of topics as a staff writer for The Orange County Register, Modesto Bee and The Imperial Valley Press. Degrees: B.S., Chemistry, University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana 1985; M.A., International Policy Studies, Monterey Institute of International Studies, 1987.
