Senior Lecturer Roland De Wolk has taught Reporting, Depth Reporting, Newswriting, Feature Writing, History of Journalism and Introduction Online Journalism. He is the co-creator of the department's online journalism program, among the very first in the nation.

Roland is the author of Introduction to Online Journalism, published by Allyn & Bacon, noted for being the first such university textbook in the field.

Roland is Reporter-Producer of KTVU Special Reports for KTVU Channel 2 News in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he concentrates on investigative reporting.

His work has been published, posted and broadcast across the nation and the world, from the New York Times to Fox to Feed. He is also the author of two outdoors books, published by Chronicle Books of San Francisco.

Roland was an award-winning newspaper reporter for 15 years before going electronic and multimedia in the early 1990s. He is a four-time winner of the James Madison First Amendment Award for Working Journalists, the Associated Press's Managing Editor's Freedom of Information Award, and the Casey Journalism Center's top honor, among many other citations in print, broadcast and online news. In late 2008 the Society of Professional Journalists honored him with its Career Achievement Award.

He grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, is a graduate of UC Berkeley and has traveled extensively throughout Africa, Western and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Latin America and Australia.

Roland De Wolk is married and has two sons.
