Teaches newswriting, reporting, the contemporary magazine, magazine editing, magazine writing, publication laboratory, and online journalism courses.

Most recent position: assistant professor of journalism and media analysis, CSU Monterey Bay, coordinating CSUMB's communication and media studies concentration for the Institute for Human Communication. 

Research and professional interests include science, medicine and media; breaking news on the internet; journalism ethics. 

Publications: More than 1,200 newspaper, magazine and Web articles on a wide variety of topics--health and science, criminal justice, government, ethics, business, labor.
